5 Need-to-Knows about Sparkhouse Digital

All of our Sparkhouse resources are designed to provide solid biblical teaching in fun, engaging ways that appeal to students of all ages. You may already be using your Sparkhouse Digital subscription to download a variety of Sparkhouse curricula leader guides, stream the curriculum videos, and preview the learner leaflets.

But Sparkhouse Digital offers more—a lot more!

Along with these core curriculum resources, Sparkhouse Digital is also home to hundreds of pieces of exclusive, available-nowhere-else content to support your ministry. In addition to using Sparkhouse Digital for Sunday mornings, we’ve got content to cover Wednesday nights, weekend church retreats, holiday events, intergenerational gatherings, and many other ministry moments! Below are five things you might not yet know about how Sparkhouse Digital can support you and your ministry with young children, elementary-age kids, and youth—and their families.

#1: NEW! Weekly Children’s Messages
A message for children may sound simple, but preparing a meaningful children’s message can require almost as much effort as writing the sermon. Our Whirl Lectionary curriculum already offers children’s message ideas for every Sunday, but now Sparkhouse Digital offers lectionary-based Children’s Messages that are not curriculum-specific. Adapt each message for your congregation and expect a new batch every quarter. How to find: in the Early Childhood and Children’s areas, go to Bonus Content and click on Children’s Messages.

#2: NEW! Children’s Church Activities
Some congregations follow the practice of inviting younger children to leave the worship space during the sermon for a brief time together before returning. Filling this time with meaningful activities can be challenging since the mix of kids and length of time can change from week to week. Sparkhouse Digital provides weekly Children’s Church Activities with suggested songs, games, and activities based on the day’s readings. Content is flexible, allowing teachers to choose the activities that work best (especially when the sermon runs a bit long). How to find: in the Early Childhood and Children’s areas, go to Bonus Content and click on Children’s Church Activities.

#3: Intergenerational Events Galore
More and more churches are planning intergenerational events, gathering together people of all ages for fellowship, learning, and fun. Sparkhouse Digital offers many possibilities depending on your subscription type. Early Childhood subscribers can host a Baptism Party for young children and their caregivers. If you subscribe to Sparkhouse Digital for Children, you can access both our Journey Together and Good Stewards Together collections of 12 intergenerational events. Both Children and Youth subscribers to Sparkhouse Digital can access Steps Back in Time: An Intergenerational Reformation Event. And all subscribers have access to the Watch Night Intergenerational Event.

#4: Resources for Faith at Home
First released in early 2021, our Digital Activity Kits were created in response to witnessing how ministry leaders were creating and distributing family faith activities during the height of the pandemic. For three years--twelve quarters total!--we designed activities for Early Childhood, Children, and Youth that leaders could prepare for families to use at home and on the go. These kits are still available on Sparkhouse Digital. You can search by age group and quarter to find a wide range of seasonal activities, faith practices, and other fun family pursuits. The content is already written and beautifully designed, ready for you to print and pass along to families. Most content is searchable in two ways: by Digital Activity Kit quarter and by activity type. How to find: Go to the Bonus Content area and click on Digital Activity Kits, or search for specific activity types.

#5: New Content Added Quarterly
Look for new content each quarter that relates to the season, scripture readings, and events in the lives of kids, youth, and families. Fall content focuses on back-to-school time. Winter content includes Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany activities. In the Spring, look for Lent an Easter-specific ideas. And Summer downloads bring faith and fun together. We are eager to add content based on your requests; our social media sites are a great place to make your ask.

We are here to support you and the incredible work you are doing. Please know that as we add content to Sparkhouse Digital, we are praying that these resources would bless you, your work, and the children, youth, and families you are reaching.
