Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.
—Fred Rogers
Building faith among our little ones requires a different approach. After all, they are still developing physically, cognitively, socially, and emotionally. And, when it comes to preschoolers, learning looks different than even other kids' age groups. Your Sunday school curriculum needs to adapt to their needs.
Over the past year, our early childhood developers and writers have been busy developing a new curriculum designed for preschoolers. And, they’ve focused on developing preschoolers’ faith through the way they learn best— play!
The Frolic Preschool difference
Unlike other preschool Sunday school programs, Frolic Preschool was created specifically for ages three to five. It includes a number of unique aspects, including:
Age-appropriate play spaces
Each Frolic Preschool lesson offers ample time for your kids to learn through play. How? By giving you a number of ideas for how you can engage kids with age-appropriate play spaces. Give preschoolers the opportunity to learn key Bible stories and themes through interactive stations. These offer a memorable experience for their cognitive development.
Music and rituals enhance learning
Build in music for welcoming, sending, and all the times in between to help children learn! Each Frolic Preschool lesson offers this same structure—providing rituals that create an environment to help preschoolers learn.
Faith concepts told through characters
The Frolic Preschool curriculum includes 24 lessons based on Frolic Storybooks. The storybooks share the charming and challenging adventures of Uri, Rufus, Hal, Jo, and Ava. Through these books, children learn key themes like patience, sharing, and how to deal with anger. And they do so in age-appropriate, faith-based ways.
Church-home connection
In Sunday school, Story Sheets and Stickers provide an activity for preschoolers. At home, they give parents an opportunity to extend learning throughout the week. In addition, Frolic Preschool offers digital or print newsletters. These help you share important child development and faith formation milestones on a monthly basis.
What’s included in Frolic Preschool?
