Celebrating Christmas and the season goes beyond trimming the tree, attending your kids’ Christmas pageants, and enjoying a Christmas Eve service.
For many adults, finding the meaning during this busy – and often, overwhelming – time of year can be lost quite quickly in the hustle and bustle of the season.
The true reason for the season comes from celebrating Jesus’ birth. God’s gift of a Savior to us inspires us to find ways to give to others, especially during this time of year.
For your small group and adult Bible study participants, this time of year can be challenging (read: first paragraph) as they seek ways to balance the stresses of everyday life with the complexity of the season, all while still being able to celebrate Jesus’ birth the way that God intended.
As such, what can you do for your small group participants? Is there a way to engage your entire congregation in the celebration of the Reason for the Season?
There is!
Here at Sparkhouse, we’ve compiled a list of five service project ideas that can be used for your small group, adult Bible study, or even as an intergenerational event to bring your community together and give back to your community.
From building craft kits for sick kids to creating a caroling shoveling club (or for those in warmer climates, leave the shoveling out of it!), these ideas give you a range of activities that will give your community a reason to come together and give back to your community.
Even as life gets busy, help others focus on faith and resist societal distractions and expectations this Advent and Christmas. Bring together your youth, adults, and families to have fun and fellowship as they give back to those in need, and share the Bible story and the meaning of Jesus birth.
Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea thunder and all that is in it; let the field be joyful, and all that is therein.” – Psalm 96
