Sparkhouse brings you a moment of love

This week as we get ready for the final Sunday in Advent and to celebrate Jesus’ birth, we are bringing you a moment of… to celebrate the reason for the season. Check back daily for new daily devotions, prayers, and inspiration.

Young children learn about Christmas through all of their senses.

They hear the Bible story and the words the angels announce to the shepherds.

They imagine the smell of hay and animals.

They taste family favorite foods and goodies in stockings.

They see the manger, tree, stars, and gifts.

They feel the spirit and wonder around them – plus everything they can get their hands or mouths on!

The faithful in the Old Testament had been waiting for the coming of our Lord, yet no one knew yet that a baby, born in a stable, would be the ultimate sign of God’s love for all.

Jesus, born amidst the sights, sounds, and smells of the stable.

Jesus, God’s gift of love for the world.

Explore your faith as child this Advent and Christmas. Be aware of the many signs of God’s love around you. As we teach little ones about the baby Jesus, they also have much to teach us in the way they know best – through play!

When I color pictures of Baby Jesus, I learn about the Christmas story.

When I hear the Christmas story and songs, I am learning a story that is central to the Christian faith.

When I can handle and play with a nativity set, I discover how the story of Baby Jesus relates to me.

When I learn about the stars in this story, I learn that stars are a symbol in the Christian faith.

When I wrap a blanket around a doll, I remember that Jesus was born as a real baby.

Share the love of Christ.

God the Creator who delights in you,
Jesus the Savior who is born for you,
and the lifegiving Spirit who shines on you,
bless you and keep you in love.
Amen.
