Flat Jesus takes on Minneapolis!

Written by Sparkhouse | Jul 10, 2018 12:00:27 PM

This summer, we invited the Sparkhouse community to get involved in our Flat Jesus project. The goal simply being to inspire faith and remind children that Jesus is with them wherever they go throughout the crazy time of summer. Hundreds of paper cutouts of Jesus characters have been printed, colored, and sent off for adventures with the Sparkhouse community. We have been delighted to see such a rush of participation in this incredible, faith-building project! Here at Sparkhouse, we decided it was time for us to join in on the fun!

First stop: The Bob Dylan Mural

The Flat Jesus from our Holy Moly curriculum went to see “The Times They Are A-Changin’” mural (Minneapolis residents fondly call it The Bob Dylan Mural), which offers a compilation of beautiful colors designed by Eduardo Korba.

Second stop: The Farmer’s Market

Our Flat Jesus from Spark: Activate Faith headed to the weekly farmer’s market downtown to grab some fresh produce for the office.

Third Stop: Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

Maybe the most well-known of the local sites, the Sculpture Garden of Minneapolis features some incredibly innovative and beautiful art. While we were there, the Frolic Flat Jesus admired the “Spoonbridge and Cherry,” an iconic statue in the heart of the city.

Fourth Stop: The Prince Star at First Avenue

The Whirl Flat Jesus stopped by to hear some tunes and see the star of Minnesota’s hometown son, Prince.

Fifth and Final Stop: Minnesota Twins game

Our new CEO, Tim Blevins, smiles with Flat Jesus at Target Field to watch the Minnesota Twins.
